As part of efforts to strengthen the media’s role in highlighting environmental and development projects, the project “Knowledge Management, Communication, and Stimulating Innovation”, implemented by the Association of Environment and Development Writers (AED) with funding from the Global Environment Facility’s Small Grants Programme (GEF/SGP), announces the launch of an environmental media competition targeting journalists in the geographic regions covered by the programme’s Seventh Operational Phase.
The targeted governorates are:
- West Delta region: Alexandria and Beheira
- South Upper Egypt region: Qena and Luxor
- Fayoum Governorate
The Association of Environment and Development Writers invites all journalists and media professionals working in local media outlets in these governorates to participate in this distinguished opportunity and contribute to raising environmental awareness and supporting sustainable development projects.
Competition Theme: Highlighting the role of civil society organizations (NGOs) in implementing environmental projects under the seventh phase of the Small Grants Programme, and the impact of these projects on preserving ecosystems and improving the lives of residents in local communities — with special emphasis on the role of the Small Grants Programme in improving environmental conditions and living standards in the targeted areas.
Participation Conditions:
- Submitted works must have been published in recognized media outlets (newspapers, news websites, specialized magazines) between September 1, 2025, and December 31, 2025.
- The content must cover one or more projects implemented by NGOs with funding from the Small Grants Programme.
- Entries may be in the form of written reports, investigative pieces, or audiovisual reports.
- Participants may submit more than one entry, provided each is related to the competition theme.
- All submitted works must be original and not previously entered in other competitions.
Prizes: Three winners will be selected from each geographic region (3 regions total) as follows:
- First Prize: 8,000 EGP
- Second Prize: 6,000 EGP
- Third Prize: 4,000 EGP
